Vast Dinosaur Beds Testify to a Global Flood

Paleontologists are traveling to a huge dinosaur graveyard in Alberta, Canada. Thousands of dinosaurs are buried there at Pipestone Creek, killed instantly by a force that packed their bones together in rock just inches apart over several kilometers. No wonder the creek is nicknamed the “River of Death.”

The dinosaurs at Pipestone Creek were mostly of the Triceratops variety, weighing two tons as adults. But could a river like Pipestone Creek ever have had the size and strength to have collected, demolished and packed together thousands of animals the size of army tanks?

Researcher Emily Bamforth heads up a team that is excavating an area the size of a tennis court, but the bed of bones extends for a kilometer into a hillside. The bones are tightly packed. She estimates there are up to 300 bones in every square meter. The bones come from both young and old individuals, buried together.

“It’s jaw dropping in terms of its density,” she says. “It is, we believe, one of the largest bone beds in North America.

So, how did these dinosaur bones get here? Prof. Bamforth offers a secular uniformitarian answer. “We believe that this was a herd on a seasonal migration that got tangled up in some catastrophic event that effectively wiped out, if not the entire herd, then a good proportion of it,” Bamforth says. “All the evidence suggests that this catastrophic event was a flash flood – perhaps a storm over the mountains that sent an unstoppable torrent of water towards the herd, ripping trees from their roots and shifting boulders.”

However, the Creation Science Association of Alberta has prepared a tour guide offering an alternate answer to the slow-and-gradual secular view. “If ever there was evidence of catastrophic events, it is certainly to be found in bone beds of dinosaurs, some beds of which stretch for many kilometres and may include hundreds or even thousands of individuals. Among well-known dinosaur bone beds are the Centrosaurus bone bed in Dinosaur Provincial Park, the Edmontosaurus bone bed along the north slope of Alaska and the Pachyrhinosaurus bone bed from Pipestone Creek near Grande Prairie, Alberta.”

A river flood could not have come close to accomplishing what happened at Pinestone Creek. If elephants had been swept down a river, their bodies would have remained largely intact and burrowing animals would have eventually reached their decaying carcasses and destroyed them.

The force that buried these dinosaurs had to have been of a magnitude strong enough to have ripped the animals apart, separated their bones, and then quickly buried them under loads of sediment. Although no modern scientists were present to witness what happened during Noah’s Flood, this event must have been the source of the energy needed to capture and bury these large, heavy dinosaurs. And, of course, there was an eyewitness to the flood, the divine author of the Bible.

Unfortunately, no solution to the question of how so many dinosaurs could have been so quickly buried and packed so tightly together is allowed by the scientific establishment–if such a solution allows God in the door or suggests that the Bible just might be true.

Comments: The Bible often confronts skepticism. Jesus said, “Why do you not understand my message? It is because you are not able to listen to my word. You belong to your father, the Devil, and you want to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and did not remain standing in the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he lies, he speaks from what is his, because he is a liar and the father of lying. But because I tell the truth, you do not believe me.” John 8:43-45

Although it may not be considered polite to say so, Satan is ultimately behind all the lies and exaggerations told by those who refuse to accept God’s word. Noah’s flood is such a logical solution to why we have so many fossils, a skeptic must close his or her mind to such a reasonable answer that confirms the truth of the Bible.

St. Paul described skeptics, as they view the natural knowledge of God, when he wrote, “Indeed, God’s wrath is being revealed from heaven against all the ungodliness and unrighteousness of people who try to suppress the truth by unrighteousness. This happens because what can be known about God is evident among them, because God made it evident among them. In fact, his invisible characteristics—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen since the creation of the world, because they are understood from the things he made. As a result, people are without excuse, because, even though they knew God, they did not honor him or give him thanks as God. Instead, their thinking became nonsense, and their senseless heart was darkened.” Romans 1:18-21

God has given people, even scientists, eyes. But sadly we do not always use our eyes to see His glory and His presence. But, thankfully, He has also given us another gift–the Holy Spirit who opens our eyes to the truth of God in nature and of God in our hearts. And God has encouraged us to believe the greatest truth of all–that we are saved for heaven through faith in Jesus Christ.

QUESTION OF THE DAY

What is a group of alligators called?

A congregation. While adult alligators often are solitary animals, they do at times gather in groups known as congregations.
